dead animals chopped into pieces
since you don’t care about their species

serve your dinner
serve your violent ideologies
You serve with your meaningless apologies
insincere - you give thanks
you pretend to spread love and light
You think you’re right
You say tradition and culture
is on your side
You say history is what we must abide by
you say lions and sharks
then you play the parts
of savage beasts as you serve your feasts
of the dead friends some of us released
off our menus, off our plates
keep out of our mouths
the dead weight of dire straits
those precious animals you killed
or paid killers to kill
and then you buy their dead body parts
to serve along with your ill

of thanks and giving
and wishes of peace - love - and light
of giving gifts and life
filled with the darkness of your cruelty
filled with the darkness of your blindness
filled with the darkness of your ignorance
filled with the darkness of your speciesism
filled with the darkness of your diseases
filled with the darkness of your destruction
filled with the starkness of environmental devastation
